A meeting between Kharkiv Region authorities and Rajiv Kumar Chander, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India in Ukraine, took place in the Hall of Councils. Kharkiv Region was represented by Sergii Chernov, Chairman of Kharkiv Regional Council, and Valentin Dulub, First Vice-Head of State Regional Administration. The parties discussed current relations between India and Ukraine, Kharkiv Region in particular, as well as future cooperation plans. 

Sergii Chernov greeted Mr. Ambassador on Kharkiv lands on behalf of the whole deputy corps of Kharkiv Regional Council mentioning that long-standing friendly relations between India and Ukraine continue to this day.

“One of the oldest and most respected universities of Eastern Europe, Kharkiv National V.Karazin University, has always hown keen interest in Indian culture, ever since its establishment. This interest still lives among Ukrainian youth. However, we also have many areas for cooperation, including agriculture, pharmacy, information technology, and machine building,” said Sergii Chernov. “Today we observe active and efficient economic growth of India. It should be mentioned that many Kharkiv enterprises have already become bright representatives of the whole Ukraine for India.”

Speaking of desire for economic relations improvement, Chairman of the Regional Council said: “Aero India-2013 exhibition is being held in Bangalore these days, and Kharkiv enterprises are also taking part. For example, my colleague, a deputy of the Regional Council, Chairman of the Board of PJSC ‘FED’, Viktor Popov, participates in it. I think that the establishment of civil aviation in India would become a promising joint project.”

“I also deem it necessary to develop regional cooperation. Kharkiv Region can conclude a cooperation treaty with one of Indian states. On regional level, relations are always definite and they result in implementation of significant projects. I would like to reassure that all branches of power in Kharkiv Region are ready for bilateral cooperation,” stressed Sergii Chernov. 

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India in Ukraine said he supported all the suggestions voiced at the meeting.
