This point of view was expressed by the Head of the Regional Council Sergii Chernov during discussion of the Kharkov region autumn agricultural works situation in the “Regional Council Hour” radio show.

“Over 478.000 hectares of winter crops have been sown in the region. According to expert estimation, around 65% of the crops are in good condition, 34% in satisfactory and only 2% are weak and infrequent.

The sowing campaign has been carried out in three phases. The first phase included sowing of winter crops before September 5, and now they are a little overgrown, though develop normally. The plants sown during the second phase, after September 5, are well-developed and already have 5-6 secondary vegetations, meaning the development continues steadily. The latest crops sown during the third phase, after September 25, are still in the tillering period, however, enough moisture and favorable temperature conditions let the plants develop normally. If the crops successfully winter, this will promise good yield. Though, we should not jump at conclusions but ensure that all the protective and fertilizing measures are taken. It will all depend on the weather” noted Sergii Chernov.
