The first fans of the Euro 2012 continental football competitions arrived in Kharkiv. Today, during celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Eastern Regional Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, fans from Germany, UK, Turkey expressed their admiration in the First Capital and their wish to be acquainted more close with Ukraine.

After celebrations, during which the Eastern Regional Administration was paid tribute, Sergii Chernov, the Chair of the Kharkiv Regional Council, answering questions of mass media representatives, expressed his confidence that the border guard troops will do their best to present our country to foreigners.

“The up-to-date troops act on the eastern borders of Ukraine. They meet and accompany the guests. Today everybody is sure in their fitness and capability. The Border Guard Service is substantially technically reequipped, the officers speak perfectly different languages, show irreproachable professional skills, they have a modern uniform. All this in complex works for a positive image of Ukraine, forms a good perception of the country. I am sure that that we’ll meet Euro 2012 with dignity, and, above all, these innovations will work for our people in the future” - stated Sergii Chernov.

As was said by Sergii Chernov, the border guards continue to work for improvement and simplification of the border-crossing system. This covers introduction of modern plastic cards which will make it easy and speed up the person-identification procedure.
