Head of the Kharkov Regional Council Sergii Chernov was elected by decision of the General meeting of the Engineering Academy a full member of this all-Ukrainian scientific – engineering association of eminent scientists and engineers of the country who work for the cause of increase of intellectual potential in the sphere of engineering activities and implementation of achievements in science and engineering into production.

President of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine, Honoured worker in science and engineering of Ukraine Anatolii Vasiliyev greeted Sergii Chernov with election to the Academy and wished “new creative plans, inventive decisions and significant achievements in realization of his professional vocation on behalf of flourishing of our country”.

The Engineering Academy of Ukraine is an all-Ukrainian scientific and engineering self-governing organization, that unites on voluntary basis prominent scientists and engineers of the country in the field of natural, technical, economic sciences, as well as collective bodies of enterprises and organizations on the ground of their common interests. The Academy is a legal successor of the Ukrainian Republican branch of the Engineering Academy of the USSR, established in 1989 on the initiative of the Council of Ministers of the UkrSSR and with the support of the Academy of Sciences of the UkrSSR.

To-day’s Academy is: about 500 full members and corresponding members, more than 100 collective members in 23 regions of the country.

In the Academy there are 19 scientific-engineering sectors, 5 institutes and centres carry out their own research. It is an association member of the International Engineering Academy and Federation of Scientists of Ukraine. In 1996 the Academy founded a magazine “Visnyk Injenernoyi Academiyi of Ukraine” (News journal of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine), which is included in the list of scientific publications of VAK (Highest Certifying Commission) of Ukraine. The supreme power body of the Academy is the General Meeting. During the period between Meetings the Academy is managed by the Presidium, which is elected for five years.
