Sergii Chernov, Chairman of Kharkiv Regional Council, takes part in video conference guided by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine. The issues are being discussed: preventing the transmission and outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease as well as readiness condition of the region to ensure the proper level of medical assistance to the first wave of coronavirus patients.

 Nowadays one confirmed case and 6 suspected cases of coronavirus disease are registered in Kharkiv region. 4 patients with suspected cases have been taken to Communal Nonprofit Organization of Kharkiv Regional Council “Clinical Hospital for the Infectious Diseases”, 2 more patients are self-isolated. The sick person with the confirmed case of coronavirus disease is also self isolating.

885 beds are organized in the region to provide assistance to the first-wave patients with COVID-19. In particular, 200 beds, including 6 beds in the intensive care unit, are located at the Communal Nonprofit Organization of Kharkiv Regional Council “Clinical Hospital for the Infectious Diseases”; 270 beds, including 6 beds in the intensive care unit, are located at the Communal Nonprofit Organization of Kharkiv Regional Council “Clinical Hospital for the Infectious Diseases of Children”. 415 more beds are located at healthcare establishments in 13 districts and towns of the region. Issues on adequate catering of the sick have been explored in all medical establishments.

19 teams under the auspices of the Center for emergency medical service and emergency medicine have been formed to provide assistance to the patients with suspected cases of COVID-19; 3 teams are going to work in Kharkiv, 16 ones – in the districts of Kharkiv region.

At the present moment Kharkiv region has already obtained individual protective gears and medical consumables: respirators with protection class FPP2 – 1350 pcs, protective overalls – 400 pcs, express tests COVID-19 lgM Antibody Rapid Test Kit – 5000 pcs, kits for detection of viral RNA of coronavirus 2019-nCoV (ORF1 ab/N)   first run/01 - 53 kits (each allows to do 96 tests)

Besides, 400,000 face masks have been received from the official reserve, they will be distributed at the healthcare establishments, among the national policemen, patrol forces, national guardians. 200,000 more face masks will be distributed at the healthcare establishments.

Under the central procurement the region keeps receiving individual protective gears, medical consumables, medical equipment; they will be distributed at the medical establishments which provide coronavirus patients with assistance.
